Electrão continued to work on extending the Electrão Network, which covers the whole of Portugal, to make it easier for companies and citizens to hand over waste for recycling.  

The Electrão network for batteries grew by 17% compared to the previous year.

Fire Stations

Firefighters play a decisive role in society but also in protecting the environment. They are part of the Electrão network as collection points in the context of the “Quartel Electrão” campaign and reference partners in promoting awareness and the separation and correct disposal of waste among the population.

Raising awareness among young people and promoting their environmentally sustainable behaviour has been one of the main vectors promoted by Electrão. For this reason, schools are part of the collection network, offering the entire school community a proximity service for waste delivery.

When purchasing new equipment, we can hand over our used equipment to the seller. This waste is delivered to Electrão by the Distributors that are part of the Electrão network and that contribute to the purposes of the waste management system.

Urban Waste Management Systems are structural agents in developing the national waste management system. They are partners of the Electrão network for the reception of waste and play a key role in connecting with the consumer/public in general and in providing a proximity service for the collection of waste.

Reception Centers

Waste management operators licensed to receive waste are part of the Electrão network. They promote the delivery of waste within the system on behalf of companies, industries and the most diverse types of entities. In addition to being collection sites, these partners also play the role of preparing waste for recycling.

All the waste collected in the Electrão network is forwarded through transport operators to the Reception Centres, which are licensed waste management operators. They promote the separation and sorting of the waste by type, preparing it for the treatment processes and recycling phase.

Equipped with technologies that enable waste treatment, reducing its environmental impact, separating hazardous substances and recovering materials for recycling, treatment operators are one of the key elements of the waste management system and its performance.

Recolha Porta-a-Porta

“Porta-a-Porta” consists of collecting, at home and free of charge, used large electrical equipment (to which small appliances and batteries can be added). This project helps increase the recycling rates of various types of equipment and curb the tendency to hoard, combats the parallel market and ensures the protection of human health and the environment.
