2023: a positive year for recycling
Electrão continued to work alongside companies and citizens to recycle more and better.

The year 2023 was marked by the unpredictability generated by the announcement of a series of national and European changes, with major impacts on the three recycling systems in which Electrão participates: packaging, batteries and electrical equipment.

2023 was an outstanding year for the recycling of electrical equipment in Portugal. Electrão selectively collected and sent for treatment over 27,000 tons of this waste. This is the best result in recent years and represents an increase of 16% compared to 2022, with 3,800 more tons collected.

Electrão promoted a pilot project in two Lisbon parishes to assess the recycling potential of the waste placed in litter bins and collected during manual sweeping. 22 tons of waste were collected.

In 2023, Electrão surpassed all previous results.
We have worked, on a daily basis, to get closer to the population and our members. We invested in overcoming the challenges of this sector and increased the recycling rates of waste electrical equipment, batteries and packaging.

Recycling starts with the actions of each one of us. Raising awareness and educating are part of Electrão's core work. Electrão promotes various campaigns for different targets, designed to reach the community and show people the need to adopt conscious lifestyles and correctly send waste for recycling.

Electrão has a group of Associates, a Board of Directors, an Executive Committee, a General Assembly, a Supervisory Board and a team of over 25 employees dedicated to managing used packaging, batteries and electrical equipment.
